Creative Growth in Europe - show casing approaches to the creative economy in Europe’s cities and regions

The Creative Growth interim conference took place on 3 December 2009 in Brussels. The half-day event showcased different approaches to promote the creative sector and the creative economy in Europe’s regions and cities. The event brought together a number of recent and running EU-funded projects all dealing with issues linked to the creative economy and creative industries, such as policy issues and local-regional strategic action plans for the creative sector; and business support mechanisms tailor-made for the creative sector and creative entrepreneurs. Representatives from the European Parliament and the European Commission set the scene by commenting on the EU institutions’ work and position towards the creative sector. The conference was addressed to stakeholders and representatives from within the creative economy and creative industries as well as business support organizations and policymakers. The event was hosted in Brussels at the venue of the Association of Local Authorities in Lithuania. Close to 60 people attended the Creative Growth interim conference.

 Kick-off meeting Minimize

On 21st of January all 11 Creative Growth partners met in Brussels for their kick-off meeting.

Anna Jacobsen, project leader of Creative Growth welcomed everyone and introduced Jan Runge from KEA, who started the meeting with an interesting presentation on creative industries development and EU policy.

Anna Jacobson presented practical information on project management and time-plan followed by information on finance and budgeting by Eva Björklund, Östsam Regional Development Office.

The communication manager, Ghita Wolf Andreasen from South Denmark European Office (SDEO) presented the communication strategy, which lead on to a presentation of the brand profile by Majbritt Chambers, BIZ-ART - Centre for Culture and Business. After a coffee break all eleven partners held a 5 minutes presentation on their region and work, and the first day finished with a steering group meeting.

On the 22nd of January Frederik Sunnergren and Peter Karlsson from Östsam Regional Development Office led a mapping seminar.




 

 

 Interregional seminars Minimize

During the project period, Interregional thematic seminars will be arranged on themes that are linked to the topics of the TWGs. The seminars hosted by different partner regions will be open to stakeholders beyond the partnership and include showcases, study visits, workshops, info from the TWG activities etc. Read more on the seminars here.
