- the event for creative enterprises in Emilia-Romagna at R2B 2011

An informal opportunity to meet new people and widen your network: creative entrepreneurs from all over Emilia-Romagna met up at Create the Net, an event organized by Aster during the International Fair R2B – Research to Business (Bologna, 8-9 June 2011).

Through a format based on a speed networking method, each entrepreneur had the opportunity to briefly explain his business and to listen to all the other’s presentations, during three working sessions: at the end of each session, the groups rotated and changed, in order to give the opportunity to meet as many participants as possible and create new contacts with possible partners or customers.

Every enterprise has the need to widen its network, but in particular this is strategic for start-ups, having the necessity to promote their activities and, at the same time, to meet the most important players in their markets.

Create the Net was conceived as a unique chance for creative enterprises in Emilia-Romagna to meet up and find possible high-tech partners to develop their activities. The setting of this event was one of the most important fairs about innovation, industrial research and technology transfer: in this context we were able to connect creativity and innovation.

Among the participants, 29 in total, there were some important participants from Emilia-Romagna and beyond mostly working in advertising, publishing, cinema and design field as well as on the ICT sector.

In addition, 9 start-ups participating in Creative Growth pilot project CREATER – Crescita cREATiva in Emilia-Romagna, joined the event:

These nine enterprises and projects were selected through a call for proposals on the basis of their innovation contents, potential market and team.

CREATER, using the services that Aster already provides to innovative and technology contents start-ups, customizes them in order to match creative companies’ needs.

Within the Creative Growth project activities, Aster has organised a seminar dedicated to creative companies and professionals on how to write an attractive business plan, a key instrument for starting a business in any innovative field.

The seminar was organised together with the Centre for Audiovisual Development and Digital Innovation in Emilia-Romagna launched by Cineteca of Bologna with the Emilia-Romagna Regional Authority within the initiative “Multimedia District” financed by the Italian Youth Ministry.

The seminar targeted students and youngsters, creative companies and all people interested in improving their knowledge on this key tool for developing a business project together with an expert and representatives of successful start-up enterprises who outlined success and critical factors.

With over 100 participants, the seminar was a complete success which shows how interest for making business in the creative sector is high in Emilia-Romagna.

The part 1 activity of the Creative Growth project – mapping the creative sector, was an opportunity for CEEI Asturias to analyse specifically the use of ICT in the Asturian creative sector . The regional mapping of the sector in Asturias was focused on a qualitative analysis about the use of ICT tools in creative processes and business needs. Because of this special interest in analysing the interrelation between the creative sector and ICT with a high level of quality, CEEI Asturias has been working with CTIC Foundation, the main regional expertise on the ICT sector.

CEEI Asturias then organized two workshops on 29 September 2009 in The Laboral Centre of Art and Industrial Creation in Gijón, Asturias and on 6 October 2009 in CEEI Asturias. The aim of both meetings was to present the Mapping from the Creative Growth project and to gather inputs from the companies themselves about the results and conclusions in the ICT study, getting at the same time more information about how ICT is used in the creative sector. These events were an interesting opportunity to get contributions and make direct contact with creative industries thinking on new activities in the Creative Growth project.
